Mildred (Bales) and Kenneth Lester

This information was taken from Mildred’s obituary:
Mildred passed away April 3, 2016. She lived most of her life in Port Lavaca until she and her husband of 56 years, Kenneth D. Lester, retired to their ranch outside of Hallettsville in 1998. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Lavaca for much of her life and played the piano and organ for the church for a number of years while raising her young family. In recent years, she and Kenneth joined the Salem Baptist Church in Ezzell, to be closer to God and a place to worship near their ranch. During her life, Mildred left a mark on many in Calhoun County, including scores of piano students she taught, as a bookkeeper for her husband’s construction business and later her participation in numerous civic activities for Calhoun County and the City of Port Lavaca.
Mildred enjoyed reading, genealogy, crocheting, and antiquing. Her favorite school memories were band, football games, and playing the piano for the choir and thespians.
