John and Sue Burns

Information furnished by John’s son on 12-3-2018:
Family and friends… so much has happened in a short period of time. John has been feeling poorly for quite some time. Through various doctors and many tests, 10 days ago we had an answer…not the answer we wanted to hear (Acute Leukemia). Last Thursday, he was brought home and placed on hospice. His first night at home, he slept more soundly than ever. It was early this morning, surrounded by close family, he took his last breath. His last moments were ones of peace. His words, thoughts, and actions have had a meaningful impact on all of us.
Information furnished by John in early 2018:
Sue and I married in 1958. The photo was taken 11-18-2017 at our Grandson’s college football game.
I have only attended one reunion back in 1987. I’ll try to make the next one.
Since 1957 a lot has happened:
My family and I moved to Durban, South Africa in 1964. In 1966 I went to work for Bechtel, San Francisco. Bechtel transferred us to The Hague, Holland in 1968. In 1969, with the financial help of a Dutch shipbuilder, two Bechtel colleagues and I formed our own pipeline engineering company. In 1975 I sold my interest in the company and we moved to Houston where I commenced my consulting work.
Since moving back to Houston, I have also had temporary residences in Montreal, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
I joined INTEC Engineering in 1996 and my wife and I lived in Manavgat, Turkey until 1998. I continued working for INTEC in Houston until I retired in 2008.
