Joel and Beth Tanner

Robert “’Joel” Tanner, 79, of Schertz, Texas, passed away suddenly on January 5th 2019 at the Val Verde Medical Center as he was preparing to be airlifted to San Antonio.
Joel was born in Port Lavaca, Texas and graduated from Calhoun High School. He attended Victoria College then Southwest Texas State, where he obtained his Master’s degree in Industrial Arts. Joel went on to teach for 34 years at schools including Victoria High, Smithson Valley Middle School, Robert Cole High School on Fort Sam Houston and an impressive 29 years at Randolph High School on Randolph AFB.

Joel and Beth were married 55 years. They had one son, one daughter, and two grandsons.
Joel’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, travel, and volunteering.
His high school memories included swimming/camping trips to Magnolia Beach and band trips.
