Reverend G. Richard Thayer III passed away February 26, 2008. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Texas where he played in the Longhorn Band.
Following graduation in 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a Navigator and attained the rank of Captain. He married Ann Elisabeth Ludlow in England and returning home, he enrolled in the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX where he earned a Master of Divinity. He was ordained to the diaconate by Bishop Gosnell and to the priesthood. After serving in various churches, he retired from the active priesthood and was serving as Interim Rector of St. Philip’s at the time of his death. He and Ann were married 44 years.
