Robert and Mary Dalzell

Information furnished by Robert and Mary:

Robert was born in 1938, in Mexico City where his dad worked.  After declaring U.S. Citizenship in 1959, the family moved to Brownsville.  They moved to Port Lavaca in 1955, where Robert attended Calhoun High School his Junior and Senior years.   He worked at Deckerd’s Humble Station while in School and then for Bauer Dredging.

Mary was born in Alabama in 1940.  After living in Iowa for seven years, she moved to Dallas in 1972.  She and Robert met in Dallas.  They were both widowed with four children each, so their blended family consisted of eight children!  While in Dallas, Robert worked in sales in the shrimp business.  Later they moved to Port Lavaca where Robert worked in the shrimp processing plant.

Robert and Mary moved to Port Isabel in 1979, where Robert was manager and part owner of a shrimp plant.  Mary worked in shrimp sales and also had a gift shop.

Mary retired in 1996, when they moved to Tampa, Florida.  Robert worked for Con-Agra in Tampa.  They went to Panama for Con-Agra and put in a shrimp plant there.

In 2000, they moved to Harlingen where they still live today.  They owned a shrimp plant there until Robert retired in 2016.

In Robert and Mary’s own words they have had a wonderful and exciting marriage with eight kids and so much love.  Never a dull moment, and now so many grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.
