Leon Helms
Leon passed away on January 31, 2021, in Greenville, South Carolina. He and his wife, Vera, were married 59 years. They had two daughters. Leon was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church.
Mary Jane provided these memories: In his early life, Leon worked at one of the plants near Seadrift. Later he built a shrimp boat and shrimped. He was a perfectionist at building small boats.
Leon was very quiet and never had a whole lot to say, but when he said something you better listen because it was going to be the way that it was.
