Kathy (Allen) Musso

From the obituary:

Kathleen Mary Allen Musso, age 82, passed away on January 8, 2022, after a brief illness. She was born in New Kensington, PA on November 10, 1939, to parents Sara and Joe Allen. The family moved to Port Lavaca, TX when Kathy was a young girl, where she grew up with her four siblings; Mike (predeceased), Pat (predeceased), Charlie, and Teresa. Affectionately known to many as Kathy, Cassie, Mom, Grandmommy, Mimi, Aunt Cass, she was a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Kathy graduated from Port Lavaca High School in 1957, where she was captain of the basketball team, captain of the cheerleading squad, Miss Calhoun High School, and homecoming queen. After graduation, she started dental hygiene school at Caruth School of Dental Hygiene, where she met her husband, Dr. Frank Musso, who was then a student at Baylor College of Dentistry. They married on August 19, 1961, and resided in Dallas, TX, and were married until Frank’s passing on June 14, 2004. Together they raised 4 boys - Joe, Mike, Mark, and Bob. She later married Frank Ribelin in 2009.  They were together until his passing. Kathy’s greatest joys in her life were her 4 boys, 12 beautiful grandchildren, traveling, music, and above all, her faith in The Lord. She was steadfast in her faith from early on in her life until her passing. She was a member of the Notes of Joy, an all-women guitar and vocal group in St. Rita parish throughout the 1970’s, where her love of music began. Throughout her life, she guided and mentored many young people, including teaching them the power of prayer and fellowship and the importance of having a personal relationship with God. She opened her home weekly to a group of over 25 high school girls for “prayer & share”. She formed and hosted a women’s prayer and fellowship group weekly for over 30 years in her home – they called themselves The Flock, touching so many lives along the way.

Information provided by Kathy in January 2018:

Frank Musso and I were married for almost 43 years. He practiced General Dentistry for 40 years. He died in 2004 of cancer.

We had four sons, Joe is a prosecutor for the county of Los Angeles, Mike and Mark have carried on with Frank's dental practice and Bobby is a Regional Vice President for Lakeshore Learning.

I have 12 biological grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren. Three of my grandchildren are in college, 4 in high school and 5 in grade school.  Three of the college-age grandchildren have been on Mission Trips to foreign countries. It has been a blessing to me to watch them grow in their walk with the Lord.

I married Frank Ribelin in 2009. Frank was an international art collector, and a very loving and giving man.  He died of cancer on  April 26,  2010. We were only married 5 months. I miss him every day!!!

I practiced Dental Hygiene in Tyler, Texas for two years, married Frank Musso, and I have lived in Dallas ever since. There was a short time when I substituted in the office when Frank, Mike and Mark were all practicing at the same time. It was a fun time for me but they wouldn't let me be boss!!!

At one time I was part of a women's guitar group in our church. We played and sang every Sunday at Mass. The priest was not too fond of us, but he got used to it!!

I snow skied and played tennis for many years with several of my dear friends until age caught up with us!!!  I still go to the casino and play Video Poker when I get a chance. I love to travel, and especially have enjoyed traveling with my sister these last two years.

We have a lake house in Athens, Texas, 1-1/2 hrs. away from Dallas. I enjoy taking friends and family there for great, short get-a-ways!!  You are ALL welcome anytime!!!!

I loved our high school days and I loved all the kids in our class!!!  I am so grateful for our classmates who have kept us close by having the reunions and keeping us in touch with one another.

Basketball was my favorite sport, and I will never forget Miss Junek the day I was whining and complaining about some shot I couldn't do. I told her "I can't do it!"  She said, "Can't never could do anything!!!”   I never forgot that AND I repeated it often to my sons!!!

I still live in the same house we bought when our sons were very small. Mark and Mike live within blocks of me with a total of 7 grandchildren, and I see them often, especially when I cook pasta for them!!!

"Cheers and Blessings" to the Class of '57!!!!!
